Last week, I wrote about the risk of sending important stuff over to clients through email. They might end up looking at your hard work in the middle of an inglorious act.
Yesterday, I was in the middle of an inglorious act when I read a glorious email. It was my publisher’s. Attached to his short email were two attachments that immediately caught my eye:
Book planning fall 2024.pdf
we’re not artists agreement.pdf
That’s right. We’re publishing. It’s happening. I’m signing and returning the agreement today or tomorrow. And then, I’ll be proud and over the moon to call BIS Publishers my official representative.
According to attachment #1, these dates are publicly relevant:
July 2024 — Book visible in online channels
September 2024 — Press release & presale through BIS Publishers
October 2024 — Launch in Europe and the UK
April/May 2025 — Launch in the US
Harrified [ˈhæ.rɪ.faɪd]
Adjective
Emotional State: A complex emotional state characterized by simultaneous feelings of happiness and terror, (happy and terrified at once), often experienced when encountering opportunities or situations that are both immensely rewarding and dauntingly challenging.
Response to Change: The reaction to events or news that are perceived as both positively life-altering and intimidating, leading to a blend of excitement and fear.
Example: "Upon hearing she got the promotion, she was harrified, thrilled about the advancement but overwhelmed by the new responsibilities it entailed."
I had to come up with a new word to describe how I feel right now. Harrified covers it quite well.
Bye.
Congratulations 🥳!
